Here's a good example of Incan stonework used in the foundation of a building. The upper parts of many structures in this part of Peru were destroyed by the Spanish, but the invaders recognized strong construction when they saw it. Instead of removing the Incan foundations, the Spanish merely built their own upper floors on top of the solid (and earthquake-proof) Incan ground floors.
